Marion Meadows - Whispers (Album Review)




Marion Meadows can look back on an eventful past. As a young musician he had not even dream it, to become a member of Norman Connors band and be signed by Bob James' label. It took a bit to his own solo career. But twenty years later he can for sure describe himself as a staple of the smooth jazz format with recordings such as Keep It Right Here (1993), Forbidden Fruit (1994), Body Rhythm (1996), Another Side Of Midnight (1999), Next To You (2000), In Deep (2002), Players Club (2004), Dressed To Chill (2006), and Secrets(2009).

What do you find to be the most challenging aspect of recording a new album?

The most challenging aspect of recording a new album to me lies in the creative flow. An artist can’t always turn on the creative fountain. Although I am always creating, I am not constantly on the same creative plane. An album, although often eclectic must have a sense of continuity and balance. I like to think of it as a story line.

The latest CD "Whisper" form soprano sax master Marion Meadows is finally completed and available. Almost four years since his last release Marion is very excited about this new project! His collaboration with Italian born guitarist Carlo Penissi gave birth to several new tracks that hi-light  Marion's ability to step out of the box. Along with veteran producers and composers such as Bob Baldwin and Rahni Song, and a stellar cast of musician contributors, Marion comes back onto the scene with an exciting and fresh new addition to his already well received discography.
